KIA K2500 DUO - MD is a Road-Rail vehicle of small dimensions, but great possibilities of use. This Road-Rail vehicle can be used as a measuring vehicle or a vehicle monitoring the railway track condition, can be equipped with recording device (instead of walking linemen), for transportation of materials on the track during small repairs (e.g. track fastenings - trailer, ballast - tipper, gas welding set - body superstructure), able to transport up to six persons, etc.
A great advantage of this Road-Rail vehicle, besides favorable price, is also the fact that the gross vehicle weight ranges up to 3.5 tons, i.e. only the van category driving license is necessary for ride on road. Minimum maintenance and operation demands and costs, same as low-service rail gear system are very convenient as well.
Rail gear units are controlled hydraulically, from the driver's cab. Rear road axle serves for power transmission during ride on rails. Front road axle is locked and raised above the rail head. KIA K2500 DUO - MD can be supplied either with single driver's cab or double driver's cab, with a platform, body or a tipper superstructure, as well as with other superstructures. Close Circuit Television System (CCTV) for easier on-tracking and watching the area behind the vehicle, air-conditioning, etc. can be supplied as well, if required. This type of Road-Rail vehicle is also suitable for operation on tramway tracks.
